John is an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor and NRAC Consultant, with 20+ years of private practice experience, undertaking a broad range of professional consultancy services for Public and Private Sector clients.
John has been extensively involved with providing a full scope of access consultancy services to his client base since 2000. During my time as an access consultant, I have worked on projects large and small, across a range of project types, from new build, extension, refurbishment and change of use.
Noteworthy projects include the new £162m Clatterbridge Hospital in Liverpool, a £118m programme of 10 Primary and Secondary schools for Liverpool City Council and various projects across the University Sector, to include The University of Manchester’s £60m Graphene Institute and the Liverpool John Moores University £64m Copperas Hill development.
My expertise adds value to both clients and design teams alike. My experience has given me a clear understanding of the strategic and technical drivers of inclusive design, and one of my greatest strengths is the ability to critically analyse a design concept and effectively communicate practical measures to improve the base line principles of the design from an access perspective.
I am passionate about the principles of inclusive design and I bring tried, tested, pragmatic and often innovative solutions tailored to meet the client’s operational and functional requirements, ensuring the design is bespoke and barrier free.
