The Construction Industry Council to host the NRAC

Posted on 3rd July 2017 by NRAC Administrator

The National Register of Access Consultants  will be hosted by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) with immediate affect.

NRAC had previously been hosted by the Centre for Accessible Environments (CAE) whilst it worked towards independent status and transferred to CIC on 1 July 2017.

NRAC is the UK’s only specialist accreditation in the field of inclusive environments and it is hoped this new collaboration will help raise our profile as well as support CIC with their inclusive environments focus following on from the Built Environment Professional Education (BEPE) Project.

CIC is delighted to welcome the NRAC and Chief Executive Graham Watts OBE said; “We are delighted to welcome NRAC into the CIC group.  It is an ideal fit in so many ways.  The NRAC registrants are each members of one of the professional bodies that constitute CIC; there is an immediate synergy with our Register for Approved Inspectors; and the focus on accessibility is central to the Inclusive Environments work of CIC.  We look forward to working with NRAC for many years to come.”

Simon Turton, NRAC Board Advisory Group Chair commented; “As access professionals our members play an important role in the construction industry, assisting in delivering inclusive environments, whether that be assessing existing buildings or advising on new build and refurbishment projects. CIC is therefore the ideal host for the NRAC. We look forward to collaborating with CIC as we continue to develop the NRAC and help raise awareness of how to deliver inclusive environments”.
